Now that we’re transitioning to Q3 of 2026, I wanted to offer a check in on how each of my annual goals is going. I am having an absolute blast working on goals across all of the different areas that I care deeply about.
As we get to the halfway point of the year, I’m also making some decisions about what I want to prioritize in the second half of 2026. You’ll see below that I’ve trimmed a few goals to give myself a little more time and margin. I’ve noted trimmed goals with a strike thru for ones that I’m officially taking off my list for this year.
As I did in Q1, I’m going to offer a β for goals that are done, a β for goals that have partial progress, and a β for goals that have no progress yet. I also added a π for any goals that got refreshed or changed in some way. In each area, I’ll offer a general update rather than specific updates for each goal.
At the end of Q1, I had 3 goals done, 39 in progress, and 22 not started.
At the end of Q2, I have 15 goals done, 41 in progress, and 8 not started.
As a reminder, goals marked with * are the “moonshot” goals, or what I consider to be the more challenging goals in each area for me to accomplish.
Yoga Practice, Yoga Teaching and Yoga Therapy Study
- β π Complete [two courses] on practicing and teaching pranayama
- β Complete a course on teaching prenatal yoga
- β Complete Yoga Therapy Foundations course materials, retreats, and assignments
- β Complete one Yoga Renew course each month
- β Complete one Commune course each month
- β Continue my weekly guided meditation offering in Prolific
- β Take at least one virtual guided yoga class per week
β *Design a differently themed yoga sequence each week to further develop my teaching style
Update: In Q2, I actually added a goal to this area because I recently received early access to a pranayama course from a favorite teacher and I wanted to make sure I get to that in a timely way. I also decided to take weekly yoga sequence design off my list since I’ll still be practicing sequencing through some of my yoga therapy assignments. I also had my second retreat for yoga therapy in Q2 and I really loved that time to focus on my practice and what I’m learning.
Coaching and Coach Training
- β Explore team coaching approaches and tools
- β Collect at least 10 MCC level recordings from coaching engagements
- β Start mentor coaching engagement for my MCC credential
- β Decide timeline for coach training website revision / somatic coach training website
- β Fill all pro bono coaching experience hours
- β Work toward 2500 hours of coaching experience
- β Create a multi-year planning retreat offering for 2027
- β *Outline course and begin manual draft for somatic and trauma-informed coaching methods
Update: This area continues to make good progress. I was able to start outlining both the multi-year planning retreat that I want to offer later this year, as well as the somatic and trauma-informed coaching methods course I’m designing. That also gave me some insight on the timeline for website revisions, so I’ve marked that as completed. I have also reached out to a mentor coach to begin an engagement that I hope to complete by the end of 2026.
Project Management, Strategy, and Change Management
- β Try 5 new-to-me podcasts on project management, strategy, or change management
- β Design and complete PM plenaries for April conference
- β π Remove PMP Study course from website [was try out PMI Study Hall app ($49/quarter)]
- β Learn about core concepts of organizational design
- β π Complete DASM PDUs [was complete 15 Prepcast series podcasts on PM leadership]
- β Map PDUS for PM by Design courses to be applied to PMI training (and offer them in 2026)
- β Complete 50 additional videos for workflow YouTube channel (on track with 24/52 done!)
- β π Quit competency-based data analytics certificate from WGU [was *Complete competency-based data analytics certificate from WGU]
Update: This area is the one that has the most progress so far – it just has a few items left to complete! My April conference sessions were so fun and I loved engaging with people around the concepts of project management for leaders and how they can help us thrive in higher ed. I also made a decision in Q2 not to offer PMP study sessions in the PM by Design training suite. That may change in the future, but it’s the right move for now. Since I was planning to check out the PMI app as part of that service, I shifted that goal to removing those components from the website instead.
Writing and Publication
- β Draft multi-year book publication strategy
- β Outline next book project
- β Begin book manuscript draft
- β Complete a 2-day minimum writing retreat
- β Post regularly on LinkedIn
β Finalize outline and planning for new business product project- β Write 10 poems for my ongoing collection
β *Write book proposal / secure publisher
Update: In Q2, I wanted to make some decisions about my writing direction for this year, but I’ll admit that I’m still torn on this project, so I’m going to continue thinking about it in Q3 and see if I can add to the word count. I did get 10+ poems drafted for my collection (which has over 50 poems in it now!). I decided to remove a couple of goals from this area, including the new business product that I’ve been considering for a couple of years now and the pressure to get a publisher for my book. Both of those things can wait until 2027.
Reading (maintenance)
- β Watch 10 book to movie/show adaptations
- β Choose one random TBR card per week (52 total for the year)
- β Stay current on magazine subscription reading
- β Publish TBR and debrief videos for YouTube each month
- β Read from my 26 Series for 2026 list
- β Complete monthly reading goals/challenges
- β Read 400+ books throughout the year
- β *Start publishing book reviews on the workflow channel
Update: I’m still on track with all of my reading goals for this year so far. You can always check out what I’m reading by connecting with me on Goodreads, or checking out my monthly TBR and debrief videos. In Q2, I wrapped up my goal to watch at least 10 movie/show adaptations (there are so many out now!) and also got a couple more book reviews published to the workflow channel. I also blogged about my series reading for the year and offered an update on my progress if you want to check it out. Some of my self-designed monthly reading challenges (e.g. read 1 physical books I already own each month, read 2 library books each month, read 1 book on leadership each month) have also been completed early.
Health and Wellness (maintenance)
- β Walk/run 15k steps on average each day
- β Complete full body health scan
- β Take 10 un-time-bounded naps
- β Work up to running a 10k distance (up to 3.1 of 6.2 miles)
- β Practice meditation, asana, and pranayama each day
- β Log 25k minutes in the Peloton app by the end of the year
- β π Read daily essays from “The Pivot Year” [was journal every day with Better Every Day prompts]
- β π Complete monthly Peloton “rep” challenge [was *Complete 10,000 challenge for push ups, squats, and lunges in 2026]
Update: I’m still ahead of schedule with my Peloton minutes, which feels great. In Q2, I decided to adjust a couple of goals in this area. One is a shift from journaling to reflective reading and the second is an augmentation of my 10,000 challenge. I found that I wasn’t motivated with either original goal so they got shifted to ones that feel more fun to me. I purchased a used Peloton Guide, which unlocks the ability for me to track reps in strength training, so I added that into my goals.
Rest and Recovery (maintenance)
- β Take off at least two evenings per week from client meetings
- β 30 min of recovery activities each day (vibration, compression, massage, stretching, nap, etc.)
- β Complete a quest-based video game from start to finish
- β Schedule at least one massage each month
- β Complete subscription challenge each month
- β Take at least two 2-week vacations in the year (June/July & Dec/Jan)
- β Take a minimum consecutive 2-day do-nothing (i.e. non-working) vacation
- β *Say “no” or “not yet” to at least three opportunities that come my way
Update: I continue to be pleased with how things are going in this area. I have a massage booked for every two weeks, I’m taking a couple evenings off each week from client meetings to spend more time with my partner, and I’ve chosen which video game I’m going to complete (this one). In Q2 I also scheduled my first two-week vacation of the year (it happened in June), so that goal is partially done!
Future Proofing
- β Make an alternating year sustainability schedule for business programs/courses
- β Research and decide on adding an employee to my business
- β Start working with a financial advisor
- β Listen to daily news and tech podcasts
- β Daily flossing
- β Get wills drafted
- β Pay off 60% of the current mortgage amount by the end of the year
- β *Create a 10-year plan (with this planning kit)
Update: My favorite thing to report in this area is that our payoff goal for our mortgage is currently ahead of schedule. It is so fun for me to track progress on that and we are getting so close to being mortgage free. I have some catching up to do in other areas of this list in the second half of the year, but I expect to make more progress in Q3.
And as for my unplanned Q2 goal, it was going back to a short pixie cut for my hair. I didn’t see that one coming, but I’m loving it so far!
Even with some goals being adjusted or removed, I’m still very happy with how much progress I’ve been able to make on my 2026 list so far.
In Q3, I’ll continue to work toward turning more of those β to β and more of those β to β .
What progress are you seeing with your 2026 goals and projects? What do you want to commit to (or re-commit to) in the second half of the year?
