You know that I love a good list. As we process the election news from last week, I’m starting to plan for my next four years so that I can have things to focus on and stay motivated by.

I’ll link to a podcast episode that I released earlier this week where I chat about this same topic, but I used four main questions to generate this list:

  1. What accomplishments or milestones are already on my map for the next four years?
  2. How do I want to be different between now and four years from now?
  3. What are aspirations that feel like stretch goals for me in the next four years?
  4. What will it look like to live out my values in the next four years?

Here’s what I came up with in each area:

Accomplishments or Milestones Already on my Map

  • publishing an edited collection on coaching in higher education
  • paying off my mortgage
  • completing the 2500 coaching experience hours I need to apply for the final level of credentialing with the international coaching federation as a Master Certified Coach

How I Want to Be Different

  • continuing my movement practices in a way that’s more intentional to build strength and my capacity to run longer distances
  • deepening my experience in strategy and planning, both at work and in my business (the launch of the PM by Design training offerings is certainly one move in this direction)

Aspirations or Stretch Goals

  • creating a new YouTube channel that’s more content based (different than my current channel where I talk about books and reading), which I’ll be sharing more about in my 2025 goals
  • writing a full-length fiction manuscript

Living Core Values

  • Radical Self-Trust: this value includes embracing my uniqueness as my strength and staying loyal to my own needs, so one area is paying off my mortgage and another area is playfully experimenting with things like writing fiction
  • Creativity: between YouTube and some writing projects this one is covered
  • Recovery/Self-Care: I’m guessing that I’ll be engaging with the news a lot less in the next four years, but that I’ll keep up my reading practices and deepen my movement practices to help with stress management
  • Alignment: as part of this value, I want to lean further into providing systems, order, support, and solutions for chaotic and overwhelming situations and experiences – I’m guessing I’ll have plenty of opportunity to live this out in the coming years
  • Holding Space: this final value is represented in working toward my next coaching credential

What might your four-year plan look like?
