In this post, I thought I might offer a little life update.

I’m just sitting down to write this after a nice sushi dinner with my partner. We picked up some takeout to eat at home — my sushi of choice is avocado and cucumber rolls alongside inari (sushi rice inside fried tofu pouches) — and it was a nice way to close out the day.

I’m scheduled to get my second COVID booster shot early tomorrow morning (I’ll probably be boosted by the time you read this). My partner got his second booster last week, so now it’s my turn.

We’re still masking consistently and being very careful (I think I’ve mentioned before that my partner is immune compromised). We’re feeling grateful for every precaution we can take and keeping our fingers crossed that we can keep dodging this pesky virus.

We’re also expecting some snow this weekend. The temperature is going to drop about 50 degrees in less than 24 hours. Pretty amazing. We’re hoping the ground is warm enough that none of it will stick (and our sprinklers won’t freeze), but I always love a good snowfall to sit with a cup of tea and a book.

Speaking of books… I’m working my way through this month’s TBR pile and I’ve been reading more off-list than any other month this year. So far I’ve read four books that are “extras” and I’ve got 11 books left of the 22 that I assigned myself for the month. I’m still really loving creating to-be-read lists and working my way through them each month, but sometimes I like to read what I’m feeling like in the moment.

I’ve read so much more broadly this year than I have before. I’m currently reading the second book in the Mistborn series on audio and it’s very entertaining. Next up: this fast-paced thriller.

I know that I’m going to be utilizing the upcoming read-a-thon event in my Prolific community at the end of this month. At these events, we set aside a full day to read whatever we want. It’s super nerdy, but also SO fun. I’m really looking forward to seeing what everyone else is reading that day, and I always love a whole day devoted to reading.

Even with all the dedicated reading time this month, I’m also carving out time throughout the week to watch episodes of Bones. We’re about halfway through season three and I had forgotten what a great mix of humor and mystery this show is. If you haven’t watched it yet, I highly recommend it. (I can also recommend the book series that the show is based on — I’ve read all 20 books written so far and they are great.)

If you have a moment, hit “reply” and give me a quick life update from your neck of the woods.

I’d love to hear how things are going with you.
