As I have done in previous years, I’m taking two weeks away from the office for a summer vacation. This year, I’m really feeling the need for rest and reset, so I’m planning some vacation bucket list activities to help support a feeling of rejuvenation.
Here are some of the items on my bucket list:
- Get a haircut. Not only am I way overdue, but I’m thinking of going to a shorter pixie cut again. I purchased some simple hair products to try some new styles and I’m looking forward to a more minimalist hair routine in the mornings.
- Buy new running shoes. I have some shoes for walking that are working well, but I want to get a new pair of running shoes that are a little more supportive. My partner needs new shoes as well, so we’ll make a date of our visit to the running store.
- Get a massage. I’ve been getting regular massages for a while now, but a vacation massage feels extra special for me since I’m not squeezing it in amidst a lot of other tasks and appointments.
- Binge listen to this long-running mystery novel series. I added this series of books to my June TBR pile and I’m looking forward to some binge listening sessions since I have them all on audio.
- Do some content planning. I like to use at least some of my time away from the office to outline upcoming podcast episodes and draft future blog posts. I’ll also try to pre-record some workflow videos so that I can work ahead on editing during the slower summer months.
- Watch some shows and movies. I’ve been saving some shows that I want to binge watch for my vacation time. I’m looking forward to at least one long watching session since it’s not often that I can string a bunch of hours together to chill on the couch.
- Do some long workouts. One of my favorite things to do on vacation is long workouts in the morning since I don’t have to rush to get ready to go anywhere. Lately, I’ve been enjoying longer walks, but I’ve also been doing more cycling and rowing as well.
Overall, I’m hoping for a nice mix of rest and productivity. Taking vacation at the mid-point of the year is great timing for a reset before the second half of the year begins.
