A few years back, I began writing monthly to-do lists to help me keep track of what’s on my plate. I share these lists here, and report back each month on what I was able to accomplish.
My August list focused on enjoying this final month of the summer season. Here’s what I was able to get done in the last month:
- Launched into the new academic year. My institution starts its fall term this month and I had several projects and initiatives where I needed to hit the ground running. It was also fun to welcome back our students for this new academic year.
- Welcomed a new interim chancellor. In July, my current chancellor announced that she will be stepping down from her role at the end of this summer. In August, we welcomed an interim chancellor and I was part of the team who helped onboard her into our most important projects.
- Launched a website design project. In July, I hired a developer to help me revise and refresh my main website and we started the work in earnest in August. I’m really excited for this project and can’t wait to see how it progresses over the fall months.
- Edited training manuals. I drafted several training manuals for the 2025 courses that I’ll be launching and they need to go through a round of edits. I got started on this in August, but I expect the final edits will stretch into the fall months before they are completed.
August was a mix of work and play. Now it’s time to plan for a new month of to-do items! I’m ready to launch into September and see what this next month of the year will bring.
Here are some of the items on my September to-do list:
- Go to the dentist. One of my annual goals was to find a local dentist and get back to regular appointments. This is way overdue since my move to Denver, so I’m looking forward to checking this off in September.
- Complete my annual mortgage payoff goal. We are several months ahead of schedule with the annual goal I set to pay down our mortgage this year and I think we might be able to hit the original goal of 25% paid off in September.
- Start a course (as a student) on coaching people with ADHD. In addition to the reading and research I have been doing on neurodiversity, I’m also taking a course this fall on best practices for coaching people with ADHD. I’m really looking forward to this learning experience.
- Purchase my fall tea order. Now that we are officially in the -ber months, I’m going to celebrate the season by purchasing some fall tea flavors. Chai tea is one of my favorites, but I love the pumpkin tea flavors as well.
I’m really looking forward to what I’m going to accomplish this upcoming month! What are you looking forward to in the month of September?
