Several years back, I began to write monthly to-do lists to help me keep track of what’s on my plate on a different time scale than days or weeks. I share these lists here, and report back each month on what I was able to accomplish.
My May list focused on a mix of work and rest. Here’s what I was able to get done in the last month:
- Launched the PM by Design for Leaders course. This is the third course in the project management training series that I’m offering this year and it was so fun to welcome these higher education leaders into the program.
- Took some vacation time. It’s been a long academic term with a lot happening and it’s been challenging for me to step away from work. In May, I blocked a few vacation days and it was a really important time for me to rest, recharge, and work on some tasks that I’d started to feel behind on.
- Got ahead on content production. In this busy season, I’ve been doing a lot of just-in-time content creation for my podcast, blogs, and YouTube channels. I prefer to bulk prep content ahead of time so that I have more space in my weeks, so I spent one of my vacation days getting multiple podcast episodes and blog posts pre-prepped for release and that was very satisfying.
- Finished a yoga anatomy online course. As part of my yoga therapy training, I decided to brush up on anatomy with a separate course. I’ve been chipping away at it for several weeks and it was great to spend some dedicated time to get it wrapped up in May.
May was a full month and I felt like I could work ahead on some tasks. Now it’s time to plan for a new month of to-do items! I’m ready to launch into June and see what this next month of the year will bring.
Here are some of the items on my June to-do list:
- Prep onboarding materials for a new leader. The permanent leader who is taking over my interim role is joining our campus on July 1, so I will be working with our division to create an onboarding schedule for her that helps welcome her to the campus and integrates her into our ongoing initiatives.
- Take some (more) vacation time. Each year, I try to take two weeks off toward the end of June and into July. This is the most extended vacation time that I take each year and I’m looking forward to having that longer down time before we dive into another very busy academic year.
- Make progress on my yoga therapy training program. With so much going on at work in spring term, I set aside some of my yoga study to make way for other tasks. I’m excited to dive back in to the materials in June and hope to get through several modules and the first couple of larger assignments.
- Welcome a new cohort to my coach training program. I start a new cohort of coach training participants each January and June, so I’m excited to welcome a new bunch of future coaches into the program. It’s hard to believe this will be the 12th cohort that I’ve worked with since I launched the training program in January 2020!
It’s going to be a full month! What are you looking forward to in the month of June?
