Five Genres | Five Series (Part 4)

If you’ve been around for a while, you know that I love reading series books. But I know that for some people, reading a series is an investment, especially, when we have a lot of other responsibilities and obligations to juggle.

One of my favorite things is to provide recommendations of books that I’ve loved, and that I would absolutely read again. (See Part 1 here and Part 2 here and Part 3 here.) For this fourth installment, here are five series, in five different genres, that I think are worth your time:

Kindred’s Curse by Penn Cole (Fantasy; 4 books): There are a lot of people waiting for the fourth and final book of this series to be released. I gulped down the first three books in this fantasy series about a girl who infiltrates a royal family after her mother disappears. There are some really fun reveals in each book in the series and book 3 ends on a great cliffhanger. The books in this series include:

  • Spark of the Everflame
  • Glow of the Everflame
  • Heat of the Everflame
  • Burn of the Everflame (not yet released)

Tattered and Torn by Catherine Cowles (Romance Suspense; 5 books): I just finished this series and I loved the small-town interconnected romance suspense stories that this author is known for. The fifth book in the series was my favorite, but all the books that led up to it were also completely engrossing. The books in this series include:

  • Tattered Stars
  • Falling Embers
  • Hidden Waters
  • Shattered Sea
  • Fractured Sky

Mercy & Elvis by Paula Munier (Mystery; 6 books): This series, about a veteran and her retired service dog who solve crimes alongside a small-town sheriff, is one that I always look forward to. The books are atmospheric and the side characters add some humor to the darker mystery elements. The books in this series include:

  • A Borrowing of Bones
  • Blind Search
  • The Hiding Place
  • The Wedding Plot
  • Home at Night
  • The Night Woods

The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez (Romance; 3 books): This trilogy was my first introduction to the romances by this author and now her books are a must-read for me. These are interconnected romances, and can be read in any order, but the second book in the series was my favorite. The books in this series include:

  • The Friend Zone
  • The Happy Ever After Playlist
  • Life’s Too Short

The Passage by Justin Cronin (Dystopian; 3 books): This trilogy is a pretty significant investment since it clocks in at about 2,000 pages, but I thought it was worth it. The author tells a sprawling story of the world after the release of a virus that turns some people into zombie-like creatures. This is one of the more literary dystopian series that I have read. The books in this series include:

  • The Passage
  • The Twelve
  • The City of Mirrors
