Every year, around this time, I write a post about goals that I am trying to achieve by the end of the year (you can read the one from two years ago here and the one from last year here).

Maybe, like me, you like to have a bit of a deadline to work with when it comes to some of your goals. As 2022 gets closer, here’s a peek at what I’ll be up to for the remainder of the year:

Launching a big work project. I’m leading a task force at work that begins later this fall. It will take a lot of my time and energy in the coming months to help that group complete our deliverables. I’m really looking forward to facilitating our conversations, but I think I’m most excited to shift from planning mode to execution mode once this launches.

Drafting a book chapter. I committed to writing a book chapter on the “post-pandemic university” and it’s due before the end of the year. I’ve been reading a lot to get a better sense of the direction for the writing and it will be nice to get this drafted, submitted, and off my plate in the next couple of months.

Finishing our basement unpacking. We got our couch assembled and ordered a new television that’s coming in early November (an unexpected sale moved the timeline up for this purchase), but there are still A LOT of boxes in our basement. I’d love to get book cases set up, all of our books unpacked, and get my partner’s office unpacked and set up before the end of the year.

Renovating our kitchen and bathrooms. Although I can’t control the supply chain and that may disrupt our plans a bit, I would love to have this project crossed off our list before 2022. We have hired a company to replace all the cabinets and countertops in our house, and install a couple new appliances, so we’ll see if we can achieve this timeline.

Getting back to regular exercise. I have a new treadmill getting delivered later this month, and I’m really looking forward to getting back to a regular schedule of movement. Walking, running, and yoga will be the go-to activities for my early morning exercise sessions and I’m very excited to incorporate this back into my routine now that I’m a bit more settled with my new job and commute schedule.

Reading at least 150 books. I’m still plugging away at my professional development reading list and my fun books. I just need to read 15 more books before 2022 in order to achieve this goal and I think that I can do it! (Remember that you can follow me on Goodreads to see what I’m currently reading.)

Completing 2022 business prep tasks. I have some time scheduled where I’m out of the office over the holidays and I would love to use it to get ahead on prepping for my business services and events in 2022. This will include scheduling events on the Prolific calendar, creating course sites for all of my coach training courses, updating coach training syllabi, and a few other tasks that will help the year go more smoothly if I can get them done in advance.

Seeing some family. My mom and sister are planning to come see us — weather permitting — in November. It’s been more than two years since we’ve seen anyone in our immediate families, so my partner and I are excited for this visit and a chance to, finally, meet our new niece in person!

Wrapping up 2021 coach training courses. I’m currently facilitating three coach training courses that will all be completed between late November and mid-December. I always appreciate getting a few weeks “off” at the end of the calendar year before the new cohort launches in January.

Watching Black Widow. One of my goals for this year was to watch all the Marvel movies and I haven’t taken the time to catch this most recent one. This will be one of the more fun goals on my list to wrap up the year!

What are you working on completing before 2022?
