As I write this, I’m just started a two-week vacation, and I couldn’t be more ready. Similar to what I did last year, I’m taking time off work from the end of June into early July. This is a quieter time on my campus and I find it’s easier for me to step away during this period.
Of course, as I typically do, I have a long list of tasks that I’m hoping to complete while I’m away from the office. I broke the tasks down into several categories:
- Self care: I’d love to get in some cooking, napping, reading, exercise, and other self-care activities throughout my vacation time.
- Admin: I have several administrative tasks for my business, including figuring out the schedule of programs and services I’m offering in 2026.
- Websites: Each month, I have various website maintenance tasks and getting these done falls into my vacation period.
- Content: I’d love to get ahead on production tasks for podcast episodes, blog posts, and YouTube videos for the next couple of months.
- New Book Project: My goal is to get 5-10k words drafted on a book project idea that I’ve been thinking about so that I can test some of the ideas.
- Yoga Therapy: One of the areas I’m most excited to work on is the coursework for my yoga therapy program, including getting the first couple of assignments completed.
- PM by Design: I have some tasks that are related to re-designing or kicking off PM by Design courses, so I’m looking forward to diving into that work.
- Coach Training: I have a course to update, some checklists to create, and a couple summer courses to prep for my coach training program.
- Side Quests: One of my side quests for 2025 was to work on a new product for my business. I’m hoping to make some progress on this over my vacation.
I expect that I won’t be able to get all of these tasks done during my two-week vacation, but I also have my Restful July ritual coming up as well. If you’re unfamiliar with my restful July project, it’s when I take a month off of content creation like the podcast and blog to have a reset period in the middle of the year. I will be producing workflow videos during this period, but I’ll take a break from other context for the month.
With that extra time, I hope to make some progress on my yoga training and also to spend some summer evenings reading and watching movies. I’m feeling the need for more rest in this restful July period, so I’m going to prioritize that.
What are some of your summer vacation plans? What projects are you especially excited about?
